Start eight weeks out, room by room

One room per weekend. Anything unused for a year and not seasonal or sentimental goes into a donate or dispose pile immediately.

The categories nobody wants to move

Old mattresses, particleboard furniture, dead electronics, half-used paint, and the contents of the garage attic. Almost none of it survives the trip usefully.

Time the container to the packing schedule

A 10 or 20-yard box in the driveway during your last two weeks catches everything as decisions get made, rather than forcing a frantic final dump run.
